Content and Then Some

I couldn't help but upload this video. The little boy you see here happens to be Triston, who, by the way, is such a joy to be around. He loves it when I come home from work, because that means it's time for me to play with him!

Triston was one of the little ones that my wife had the privilege of nannying this spring, and he such a joy to be around. He always loved to be held, and it was so much fun to help Tiffany watch him and the other kids too.

My Sweet, Sweet Wife

"He who finds a wife finds a good thing And obtains favor from the LORD" (Proverbs 18:22, NASB).

"Therefore what God has joined together, let not man put asunder." (Mark 10:9, NKJV)

This happens to be my beautiful wife, Tiffany. I am so blessed to have her not only as a wife, but as a wonderful helpmate, friend, and accountability partner (even when I don't want it!). She has such a gift for art--she painted a picture from a postcard (and made it look so beautiful) during the 2001 All-Star game (I remember this because I was watching the game while she painted it!), and she has a huge heart for people to come know the Lord. You can check out her blog here: http://renee-inhispresencedaily.blogspot.com/.

I truly believe that I am blessed and have found the favor of God. We will have been married seven years on November 2, 2008, and I'm looking forward to many, many more years.

We Win (Even When it Seems Like We Shouldn't)!

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge baseball fan, and that my favorite team is the Seattle Mariners. Of course, it does not take a rocket scientist to know that the Mariners are having a disappointing year. Some people have asked me, "Why do you still follow them?"

Of course, the Bible makes a couple of interesting points that could be tied to this. The apostle Paul told the Philippians that he was "content in all things" (author paraphrase, see Philippians 4:12). It doesn't matter that the team isn't doing so hot, I'm still content.

But, here's the best point of all. You see, the Mariners are not what brings me joy. It's Christ Himself, and only Jesus. Revelation talks about how, in the end, those who are believers in Him ultimately end up in the New Jerusalem and new heaven where there is endless joy (Revelation 21:4)!

So, even when we feel down, even when we feel like God is far away (and, yes, there are times when you will feel like that, but that's for another post!), even when the team seems to be losing, there is still a God in heaven watching over us, and ultimately, we WIN! Jesus will ultimately come back, and the saints of God will prevail! Hallelujah!

The question is, "Do you know Him?" If you know Him, not just casually, but really, really know Him, then you are guaranteed to win, even when it feels like it's coming at you from all sides! If you don't know Him, well, I want to invite you to get to know this Jesus that I have been talking about. Check out this web site: http://www.sinner-prayer.com/ to learn how to become saved through Jesus (who's the only way--John 14:6). Remember, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)... That means you, me, everyone. But, Jesus died so that we could be saved, have LIFE, and life more abundantly (John 10:10, John 3:16-17).
